On our train journey from Chiang Mai to Bangkok, we made a small stopover with an overnight stay in the town of Lopburi. Many thanks to Chiara and Marvin for this great recommendation, it was definitely worth the fun!!!=)

In this city, there is really nothing to see except for a few temples. The only attraction is the so-called "Monkey temple".

We followed Chiara and Marvin's advice and only had two cameras with us. Jonas was wearing contact lenses, I had no jewelry or cell phones or anything. The little rascals are not supposed to be without reason=)

When we arrived, to our surprise, the monkeys were very reserved and shy. It was only when a kind man came up to us and handed us food that the monkey show started. The monkeys pounced on us and all of a sudden we had one sitting on our back, on our head and everywhere else. It was so funny when the monkeys started jumping back and forth between us, trying to delouse our hair and inspecting our bodies. One monkey pulled on my birthmark because he thought it was food=)

There were monkeys running around everywhere around the whole temple, in all sizes, and causing a monkey show!

It was only when the gang became more intrusive and had already ripped out bundles of my hair that we had to use the stick that the kind man had given us. Fortunately, we didn't have to hit them, just wave the stick around a bit and the monkeys disappeared.

When Jonas was scratched a bit harder, we were glad that we had gotten the rabies vaccination back then!! And now I'm even considering getting a little monkey as a pet at home=)

Then we continued to Bangkok by train, this time in third class. There was no air conditioning and the seats were not as comfortable as in the other train. But we only paid 100 baht for two people, which is 2.50€!!
