Day 9 (2016) Dubai: Dragon Mart & Rain in the Desert!

Day 9 - Dragon Mart Dubai
Friday - Weekend in the UAE. Fittingly, the weather is like a roller coaster. After several days of almost 40 degrees, the temperature has plummeted. We are awakened by rain. Rain???? Really? And it's actually raining today - and it's heavy! The thermometer shows +23 degrees. Yuck. It's a good thing we don't have any fixed plans for today. Since it's the weekend, amusement parks are definitely not on the list, they are overcrowded on weekends.
It's still raining after breakfast. Since my cousin and her family still need various things for the house, we decide to visit Dragon Mart in Dubai.
On the way to Dubai, it's pouring rain, some side streets are blocked because the water is several centimeters high. Oh dear....
We arrive at Dragon Mart around 10:30 am. What a crazy store... they have everything "China junk" here. Totally fascinating. They have everything - really everything!!!!
We can't resist some of the "stuff" either. In the end, a few panda USB sticks, funny alarm clocks, and colorful flip flops end up in our shopping cart.
Our son is allowed to roam with the small pocket camera and take pictures to his heart's content. You can see his pictures above - he found many funny motives 😅🤣
In the afternoon we leave the "China market" and drive back to Abu Dhabi - in the rain. It's still raining. We have to take a detour now - the direct road to Abu Dhabi is blocked due to "flooding". Crazy....
In the evening, the rain stops and the adults make a spontaneous weekend trip to Abu Dhabi to have cocktails at the 5***** Shangri-La Hotel Qaryat Al Beri, with a view of the illuminated Sheikh Zayed Mosque, where we were last year. We briefly take a look at today's buffet with several chocolate fountains (too bad we've already eaten 😬) and then we go outside. What a nice evening 😉
