Hue, the Imperial City

Opublikowany: 25.04.2017

With heavy hearts, we said goodbye to Hoi An to take the train to the approximately 3-hour away Hue, the Imperial City.

The train journey was beautiful! Along the coast, the train snaked through nothing but untouched nature. Fortunately, we were sitting on the right side of the train and even had the only window in the compartment that could be opened. So, for half of the journey, I hung out of the window with my camera trying to capture the amazing ride in pictures.

In the train itself, a few children once again took notice of us and we were equipped with cookies and candies by a grandmother.

Since we only wanted to stay in Hue for one night, we immediately set off to explore the city as soon as we arrived. Our destination was the Imperial City within the Citadel. Unfortunately, many parts of the large complex were destroyed in the Vietnam War. However, some buildings remained or were rebuilt. This allowed us to gain a good insight into how incredibly large this area must have been in the past. So here he lived, the emperor and his family. Impressive! But for now, my cozy attic apartment is enough for me.

After the Citadel and approximately 38 degrees, we were quite exhausted and just strolled around the night market.

The next day, we were supposed to take the bus to Phong Nha in the national park.
