Day 13 Trip to Cape Tribulation

Opublikowany: 09.07.2022

The big trip starts heading up north to 'Cape Tribulation' as the locals in Cairns named it.

First stopping at a lookout on the way to take a 'Screensaver' photo - perfect weather, blue sky, no clouds - nice change after a few days with rain.

Then heading to Port Douglas, visiting the white timber church and walking - in safe distance to the croc infested waters on the beach. Stuart enjoyed the time at the beach in the sun, with palm trees, sun, water - just perfect start for our holidays.

Then we were heading to Mossman Gorge. In the past one could only walk to the Gorge from the car park and then walk through Mossman Gorge, but nowadays they want you to use (& pay) the bus for the roundabout 2km from the car park to the start of the walking tracks. As the weather had changed and light rain just started, Stuart had his nap time in the car. We walked all the way up to the Mossman Gorge start of walking tracks and went then for the longer rainforest walk. The walk is pretty easy and takes you away from the (bus) crowd, but keep your eyes more on the ground than on the fascinating rainforest fauna & flora, as you might stumble over some tree roots and need some plaster on your knee, arms, elbows and some stitches on your clothes after you fell on the ground...

Going further towards Cape Tribulation we stopped at another Lookout on the way (Alexandra lookout) for a short pic before heading to the accommodation in the hope to meet the rare Cassowaries. Unfortunately, no Cassowaries to be seen (except on road signs), so dropping our bags and heading for last sunlight pics to Cape Tribulation Lookout on the beach. Stuart enjoyed here the scenery including funny plants growing on tree roots at the beach.
