Today we had another long drive ahead of us. The Rockies were getting closer and today was supposed to be our first day there. But first, we had to make our way from Clearwater to Jasper.
The day started with a breakfast provided by our Air BnB host. We were joined by her incredibly cute Border Collie puppy. We wanted to take him with us! After enjoying our meal, we set off early towards Jasper National Park. Along the way, there was a lot to see, but unfortunately, we couldn't stop and take photos because the weather was unbearable again. 5 degrees and raining, we didn't feel like getting out of the car. And the weather didn't improve for the rest of the drive, so we eventually arrived in Jasper without any plans for the day. We had originally planned to do outdoor activities, but the rain made it impossible.
In the end, we decided to stick to our original plan and drove to Patricia Lake despite the weather. Unfortunately, the lake didn't look very impressive in the miserable weather. It was somehow gloomy and uncomfortable. A little further on, we chose a trail that would lead us to a marshland where we might spot moose and beavers if we were lucky. Apparently, the animals also found the weather too uncomfortable to show themselves, so we had no luck. The rain got heavier and we eventually turned back and headed back to the car.
Pyramid Lake was not far away, so we wanted to visit it as well. Luckily, the rain had stopped when we arrived. However, the clouds blocked our view of Mount Pyramid, which gave the lake its name. All we were left with was a cloudy sky. At least now we could explore the small island in the lake without getting too wet. The weather probably had the advantage that there weren't too many people around. On the way back, we came across some deer, which are much larger than the deer at home.
Our Air BnB accommodation this time was located outside of Hinton. It is about an hour away from all the attractions.
