Montréal Part 2, Quebec and Boston Part 1

After a long time, we find time today to bring you up to date on our trip.

After visiting Mont Royal in Montréal, the next day we visited the Olympic Park of the 1976 Olympic Games in Montréal. In this park, there is the Olympic Stadium as well as the Olympic Tower, which was unfortunately closed due to renovations. There is also the Saputo Stadium, home of the Montréal Impact, and the Biodome, a small indoor zoo that exhibits five different biospheres. We visited the Biodome and then went to Oratoire Saint-Joseph.

On our last day in Montréal, Rémy had a follow-up examination at the hospital (everything was fine). Fabian, meanwhile, unsuccessfully tried to visit Centre Bell, the home of the Montréal Canadiens, which was closed due to a concert in the evening.

On Thursday, we headed to Québec City to visit David and his family. We received a warm welcome and got settled on the first evening.

On Friday, we went to the city with David for lunch. Afterwards, the two of us strolled through the city and explored various places, including the alternative Rue Saint-Jean, the restaurant street Rue Cartier, and the beautiful main street Grande Allée, as well as the famous Chateau Frontenac.

On Saturday, we went with David and Jaapie to the Village des Vacances Valcartier. There, we slid down various snow slides on inner tubes. It was a lot of fun! In the evening, we experienced the Québec nightlife, which did not disappoint.

On Sunday, we visited the old town once again. This time, we went to the Saint Lawrence River and visited the Musée de la Civilization. There was a very interesting exhibition about dogs and cats, as well as a somewhat disappointing exhibition about nanotechnology.

On Monday, we had planned to take the bus to Mont Saint Anne. However, it was not running, so we went back home and spent the day indoors due to bad weather, watching tennis on TV.

On Tuesday, we went to the mall and did some shopping. We bought each other funny socks as a small souvenir from the trip.

On Wednesday, we went back to the city and visited the historic Plains of Abraham. This was an important battlefield during the French-English war for Québec. There was also a small museum about this battle, which was quite amusing as it was very interactive. Afterwards, we went to the Ciel rotating café to have Canadian cocktails (made with maple syrup). The café was located on the 27th floor of a hotel, offering a wonderful view of the entire city.

On Thursday, we spent another day at home. We did laundry and relaxed.

On Friday, we visited the Québec Aquarium. It is a very beautiful aquarium complex that also has an outdoor area where you can see polar bears and walruses, among other things.

On Saturday, it was time for another big outing. We took the bus to Camp Mercier to try out cross-country skiing. It must be said that Fabian was more talented at it. However, when we wanted to take the bus back, it never arrived... Thankfully, a park employee gave us a ride back to Québec.

On Sunday, Rémy and Jaapie went to soccer training in the morning. In the afternoon, we went with David to an outdoor shopping center. We both bought a pair of new sneakers on sale.

On Monday, it was Fabian's birthday. We went with David to Mont Saint Anne and went skiing. It was a perfect day for skiing, sunny and not too cold. The slopes at Mont Saint Anne were quite challenging, which pleased us. In the evening, we went to a microbrewery for dinner and celebrated Fabian's birthday.

On Tuesday, it was time to say goodbye and head back to Montréal. We had dinner there in the evening and then went to sleep.

We forgot to mention Wednesday. We took the Greyhound Lines bus from Montréal through the hills of Vermont and New Hampshire to Boston. From there, we took the train to Quincy, our new accommodation.

Today, we made our way to Boston City. We bought a Go Boston Card (a pass to all the city's attractions). With this pass, we visited the aquarium, Quincy Market, and the Great Hall in the Faneuil Building. The Great Hall is where some of the most important events in the city and the entire USA took place. After that, we took an amphibious vehicle for a tour of the city. It gave us a great insight into the city. Then, we had dinner at the Hard Rock Café and went home.
