We get up early the next morning, get ready and have breakfast. Today we head to Mannheim... family visit!
At around 10 o'clock, we leave the campsite, not without saving it as one of our favorites.
We first drive through the countryside with some nice bends, up and down towards the A7 near Kassel.
Now we are curious! Kassel Mountains. How will ODDO handle them. But our worries about getting stuck behind a truck quickly vanish. ODDO handles the Kassel Mountains quite relaxed. We only have to shift to 4th gear briefly and then quickly ascend the slopes.
That was fun!
At around 1:30 pm, we head to Mannheim and park our vehicle near the SAP Arena.
We take a taxi to Mannheim-Neckerstadt and start our family weekend. We get to know Mannheim, its people, and the localities.
The next day, we drive around the countryside a bit and end up in Bad Dürkheim. Here, we visit the salt works and of course, we have to try a wine spritzer. It was only later that we realized that the mixture here in the wine region is different from the one in the far north. Fortunately, I was the driver and stayed alcohol-free.
Afterwards, we tour the Palatinate Forest. A wonderful area. We simply take a break in the middle of the Palatinate Forest on a parking lot, take out our chairs, drink coffee, and chat away the time. Eventually, it's time to return to Mannheim.
Our family weekend ends as quickly as it began. Too bad, it was pretty cool!
We decide to drive towards Bad Dürkheim again. We find a good parking space near the salt works where we can even set up our chairs and enjoy a beautiful sunset amidst the vineyards.
Tomorrow we will continue our journey.
Where to? It's unclear. Our planless vacation begins!
Conclusion:
Mannheim is not beautiful, but interesting.
You can't always understand people from Mannheim.
Wine spritzers hit harder here than in the north.
Being planless is cool.
