After the 2-hour flight from Samui to Singapore, we immediately went on a discovery tour. Singapore is the smallest country in Southeast Asia in terms of area and has been an independent city-state since 1965. The city is considered to have one of the highest costs of living in the world.
Our first impression of Singapore: Very modern, organized, and exceptionally clean. There is no city map at the hotel, no, you get a whole smartphone with internet access to find your way around the city at any time. 📱 The cleanliness amazes us Swiss - you can't even find leaves from a tree on the ground, and if you do, they are removed by a cleaner after 10 minutes at the latest. The buildings and their architecture are overwhelming. One skyscraper follows another, sometimes just a few meters apart.
Of course, on the first day, we couldn't resist and visited the landmark of Singapore right away. Although the spitting lion is advertised in the travel guide, the Marina Bay Sands hotel has been the unofficial landmark of Singapore since 2010.
