10 From Koblenz to Cologne - K to K in 111km

Lofalitsidwa: 12.06.2020

Since I really wanted to visit a friend in Cologne, I had planned a relatively long stage of about 100km for this day and therefore set off relatively early.

At first, the sun was shining brightly as I passed by the Deutsches Eck in Koblenz, but then I had to ride through industrial areas, but then on very beautiful paths along the Rhine.

There were heavy showers in between, sometimes even with light hail, so I took shelter and my schedule was delayed a bit. But fortunately, I have plenty of time and a very understanding friend, so a slightly later arrival was okay ;)

When I arrived in Bonn, it was already 5 PM and from there it is another 35 km to Cologne - which others would consider a day trip :P

Admittedly, towards the end, I could feel my legs quite a bit and I was glad that the wind was only coming from the side and not directly in front of me.

The arrival in Cologne was really nice, I cycled past the cathedral, where a strong gust of wind quickly turned my bike upside down :D and the joy of seeing my friend again was also very great :)

We enjoyed the evening with delicious Vietnamese food and had a lot of chat.

The next day, we explored the city on our bikes and I had to realize that it is pretty awesome to have your own bike on a city trip :)

After visiting the hotspots, we let ourselves be guided through the city according to the 'oh, that looks nice, let's turn there' principle and discovered an incredibly nice café with delicious pancakes. After that, we cycled to the city forest, which really lives up to its name.

By then, I was blown away by this city with its countless green areas, interesting people, great little shops and cafés, and just a very pleasant atmosphere!

The next day, I continued exploring the city on foot and visited the cathedral as well as cute shops from the inside :)

In the evening, we made sushi ourselves and to experience Cologne's culture, we had a Kölsch beer from the kiosk around the corner in the hipster district of Ehrenfeld :D

All in all, these were wonderful days in Cologne and definitely not my last visit to the city ;) Many thanks again to my friend for everything!
