Donativo and Moritz

E phatlaladitšwe: 25.09.2018

After a very peaceful night in a real bed, we started walking at 6:30 am today. By 12:30 pm, we had already arrived about 25 km further in our destination Belorado. Another one of the most beautiful villages here. I feel like I'm walking through the Middle Ages in Spain, similar to Italy. Fortunately, we also met a German-speaking couple from Switzerland at the Donativo. They are doing volunteer service here for the season. This accommodation is connected to a Catholic church. So today, the church is our home. Fiona can sleep in the garden with other German campers, and I have another great bed for a donation.

Today we met a particularly morally strong 19-year-old German. I am quite impressed by his Camino. Moritz started in Trier, right from his doorstep. When he arrives in Santiago, it will be about 2,500 km. He has to arrive by November 8th, because his studies begin. He now walks about 40 km a day and only sleeps in his tent. He has already worn out 2 pairs of shoes and has only a worn-out top, a pair of pants, and shorts. All made of merino wool, as he hardly or does not wash the clothes at all. Hiking and trekking are his passion, and he dreams of a trail in the Appalachian Mountains in the USA.

He told us about French pilgrims with donkeys and about the so friendly people who appreciate the traditional way of pilgrimage and often invite him into their homes, share meals and wine with him.

So Moritz had a nice rest hour with us, packed his things and moved on. Buen Camino Moritz!
