And off we go! After our trip to Italy, we first went to visit various families.
1st stop: Lake Constance! We visited Carsten's mom, checked out the new beach club Seeliebe, and enjoyed the hot days on June 16th and 17th, 2022 in the great water of Lake Constance.
2nd stop: Ulm! Grandma and Grandpa were already waiting for us for coffee & cake, before we went to our long-awaited Jan Delay concert in the evening of June 17th, 2022, where we could celebrate with our friends Fabi and Fine.
3rd stop: Merklingen! On June 18th, 2022, we were invited to a friend's wedding. The hottest day of the year so far did not stop us from dancing and we were very happy to catch up with our old friends after such a long time.
4th stop: Eislingen! At Tina's mom's place, we first had two days of organization. Laundry, repacking, hardware store, shopping - all of this doesn't do itself...
5th stop: Koblenz! On June 21st, 2022, our tour continues north. We drive along the Rhine and Mosel, whose banks are lined with beautiful vineyards and many small castles. Then we make a nice stopover at Carsten's uncle and aunt, take walks through the hilly landscape and test the new pool;)
6th stop: Kiel! What was initially just a conveniently located city surprised us: we arrived in the middle of Kiel Week after over 600 km of driving! And on the evening of June 22nd, 2022, it had a lot to offer. We found ourselves at a Michael Schulte concert, strolling along the harbor, past hundreds of people, stands full of delicious food, small stages with DJs and bands, and much more. But our highlight was a light show of hot air balloons that lit up alternately to the beat of the music - beautiful! We spent the night with our camper directly behind a dike just outside of Kiel (Friedrichsort). So we could enjoy a swim in the cold Baltic Sea and have breakfast on the beach the next morning.
And what's next? We want to go to Scandinavia! On June 23rd, 2022, we drive straight across Denmark to Frederikshavn for the ferry to Gothenburg. We take a small detour to the Rubjerk Knude Lighthouse, which is located on a dune and would have almost collapsed due to strong erosion caused by wind and waves. In 2018, it was moved 70m further inland with great effort to preserve it.
And now we are sitting in the middle of the (Scandinavian) night on the ferry, planning the rest of the road trip.
Our rough route for the next 5 weeks:
