Even though it is more exciting for most people to explore new countries and travel abroad (which I have to admit applies to me as well), one should not underestimate the beauty in their own surroundings.
As part of a tourism course, we spent 2 days in the beautiful Frauenwald am Rennsteig, and looking back, I can say that it was not as boring as it might sound at first. The place has a lot more to offer than one might expect. In the guesthouse (with a super friendly host!), where we spent the night, we could go bowling and have a fun evening. The local butcher makes incredibly good sausages, and there is also a small bakery and numerous restaurants. There is even a public swimming pool with really affordable prices. But all of this is still nothing special...
The highlight in the town and its surroundings is the annual dog sled race or, of course, the numerous hiking trails, such as the Dwarf Path, which is also a lot of fun for the kids :-). And in the future, another hiking trail will be created, equipped with various stations. And this is exactly the task of our course. So creativity, as well as a certain sense of feasibility, is required to create a new attraction in Frauenwald. How exactly this will look like and be implemented will become clear in the coming months. But one thing is for sure: For hiking enthusiasts who simply want to find peace and relaxation in nature, this will be the perfect thing!
