On our way to Slovenia, we decided to spend a night in the Berchtesgadener Land. Apart from the fact that Berchtesgadener Land is always worth a visit, the break from driving really did us good.
Visiting the Eagle's Nest was Jannik's idea. I myself didn't even think about it and honestly didn't really know what to expect there.
First of all, you CANNOT drive all the way up yourself. You park at the bottom of the parking lot (not free, but not too expensive either) and then you can either walk up or take the specially developed buses up to the Eagle's Nest. We opted for the comfortable option and let ourselves be driven. The price seems high at first (about 15€ per person), but in the end it was really worth the money. The bus ride alone is exciting and you can enjoy a spectacular view that gets better and better as you go higher! 😎
Afterwards, you first ride the famous lift completely covered with brass, which finally takes you to the Eagle's Nest. That also has something special about it. The whole thing felt somehow surreal - you could really say that you feel the history of the place. Everything is beautiful and fascinating, but you must not forget how much weight the past has here.
When we arrived at the top, we were particularly surprised by the wonderful area. It's just perfect for hiking! You can easily spend several hours up there! 🙏🏻😁
If you get hungry, you can also eat something at the Eagle's Nest, as it is now operated as a restaurant. Whether it tastes good or not, you have to try for yourself, as we had packed so much that we skipped the restaurant visit this time.
If you are nearby, you should definitely visit this historic place!
