Hey guys,
today we had another great hiking day and it seems to be true that the South Island of New Zealand is consistently beautiful no matter where you go. It's just incredible! Today we went to "Farewell Spit", a 12km hiking trail at the northern tip of New Zealand. When we arrived, we immediately felt at home! Why? Because it looked like the North Sea coast of Denmark! Long beaches, white sand, and high dunes, just as you know it! However, the further we walked along the beach, the more the surroundings deviated from the Danish beach, because our path led us to a dune and suddenly we were in the middle of a sand landscape, as if we were in a desert or maybe even on another planet! So we walked through the sand and had a lot of fun "riding" the dunes with our feet! Another perfect example of how diverse this country is in its nature! On the way back along the water, we saw about 1000 black swans, which was absolutely amazing because they were all sitting close together! A great sight!
Relatively exhausted, we drove to a campground that is very beautiful in the middle of nature and the mountains. We spent the day here, sunbathed a bit, ate something, and in the evening we went to a beach near our spot.
I don't even know how to describe it, because this beach was not tropical like the beaches I saw the day before, but it was a beach characterized by rock formations that I have never seen in my life! It was so impressive and breathtakingly beautiful that no matter where I looked, I couldn't stop being amazed! At the beach, we met a Canadian girl with whom we chatted for a while and spent the evening together on the beach watching the sunset, which was definitely one of the highlights of New Zealand for me so far! It really was like being in a movie and I was able to take great pictures!
I can't post this blog entry until tomorrow because I don't have internet reception here!
In general, we had a great day!😍
Greetings from Wharariki Beach, New Zealand!🇳🇿
