from Ersfjord to Tromsø

E phatlaladitšwe: 08.09.2022

Today there's really not much to report. Due to the tunnel closure, we had to go all the way back on the island of Senja from yesterday. In the process, we also explored the second beautiful rest area Tungeneset. There is a wooden path leading to a tidal pool where the mountains are reflected beautifully.
Today, we didn't get away without taking a ferry either. It is remarkable that there seem to be as many types of ships as ferry connections, at least we have always been confronted with new little ships so far. When you arrive in the Tromsø area, there is no longer any reminder that you are already so far north. Enormous traffic, houses, shopping markets - everything you would expect from a bustling city. But wait, there are still many tunnels. Heading towards the center, you eventually enter a tunnel and then things get exciting. Just going into the tunnel and coming out on the other side would be no big deal. We have already driven through two underground roundabouts and have no idea how many more there are under the city. With a bit of luck, we have chosen the right way - unfortunately, GPS doesn't work underground - and found the intended campsite.
After checking in, we wanted to go straight to the city. Unfortunately, we had some trouble with our extension cord again. There seems to be a loose connection somewhere in the plug, so it takes some luck to find the right position. Tomorrow we will definitely buy a new cable.
We made it to the city as well. Unfortunately, the Arctic Cathedral closed exactly six minutes before we arrived, so we went straight to the city. Tromsø is a very modern city with a few architectural hints of its beginning. Especially the pedestrian zone is reminiscent of a cozy small town, but two streets further there is no trace of that anymore.
Tomorrow we plan to visit the Sherpa steps - let's see if we can get our tired bones up there.
