At noon on November 2nd, our journey from Krabi continued to the island of Phuket by ferry. The journey took about 2 hours and so far has been one of the most pleasant modes of transportation. Upon arrival in Phuket, we had to drive for about 1 hour from the pier to the hotel, which was on the other side of the island. Our accommodation was right on the popular Kata Beach. This was the first time we realized how popular Thailand has become as a travel destination. Phuket was full of tourists. Phuket seems to be especially popular among Russian tourists. The beach was very beautiful and despite being crowded with tourists, it felt very comfortable there.
Our first day trip was to one of the most famous attractions in Phuket; the Big Buddha. The statue itself is already a sight to behold, but the view from the mountain down towards the sea is absolutely worth seeing. Unfortunately, the taxi ride there and back was so ridiculously expensive (1000 THB = 27€) that we decided against another sightseeing trip. Instead, we explored the beautiful Kata Beach and the area around our hotel on foot.
We spent the other days swimming and relaxing ;-).
Next stop...Koh Samui.
