09/02/2023 from Otway NP Lorne to Cape Otway in Great Otway NP

Birdsong wakes us up late and there is still silence in the small space. We start the day with muesli and pack our stuff, there is a waterfall nearby and we visit it this morning. The guide, a Travel Know How Australia, writes that the road to the waterfall goes very steeply downhill. Yes, we can confirm that at first, even more interestingly, we have to go down 230 high steps to see the rushing water at all. After we have climbed on the rocks, we have to go back up the steps and have thus checked off the morning sports for now. We continue on the Great Ocean Road to Lorne Visitor Centre, enjoying our time on the World Wide Web. As a reward, we treat ourselves to a pie today, that is, two, one for each of us. There are several viewpoints on the Great Ocean Road that are worth driving to, we see great views of the ocean and the bay. We are completely alone at one beach, I build a dam on a creek meeting the sea and I enjoy it.

Cape Otway is our next destination, here there is another historical lighthouse, but we settle for a short hike to catch a glimpse of the lighthouse. The area is private property and so the owner can demand a hefty entrance fee.

Our camping site for today is only a few km away from the lighthouse, but unfortunately the ground is not very level, but that doesn't matter either. Then our car just leans, let's lay down the other way for a good night's rest.

We hike to the beach, this time down 300 steps and up 300 steps again. It is only a short walk, but it is tough. Some guests are sunbathing in the small bay, children are playing and we go swimming. But it's still too cold for me. Nevermind, the climb warms us up again.

Here at the small campsite in NP, there are many people, but it's fine for one night. The people here are really friendly with each other and it's really fun.
