Leisure paradise

When looking at the map, the famous and popular Lake Garda stands out. Well, since we're here anyway, let's make this detour as well.

However, there is still a problem to be solved on the way: the garbage of the past four days.

In the last 300km, there was not a speck of garbage anywhere, really nowhere. The Tyrolean Alps are so clean that it's hard to believe. No paper, no plastic bottles, no half-empty bags in the bushes - everything is spotlessly clean. But there are also no disposal options, no trash cans, no waste containers. Where does the dirt go? Maybe the cheeky high toll fees go to well-paid garbage collectors, which would be commendable. Or do ecologically minded tourists from all countries take their waste back home? Or are the diligent dirt huts at work?

In any case, we have been driving with a well-filled Spanish garbage bag through the mountains for some time now, which has long since transformed its spring bouquet into an unpleasant odor.

When we arrived in the valley, to the general relief, we discovered a large gray bin where we can dispose of our civilization remnants, which dispelled any doubts that there might be a lack of disposal options in all of Italy and that the Spanish bolsa would accompany us over half of the boot.

Lake Garda is a tourist paradise. With a whopping 24 million overnight stays per year, there must be a lot going on here during the peak season. However, our travel time is already at the end of it, so we are somewhat surprised that there is much less hustle and bustle than expected. Still very interesting: all offers of the leisure industry can be studied around the lake: sailing, surfing, kiteboarding, paragliding, stand-up paddling, climbing, hiking, jogging, road bikes, mountain and e-bikes - I probably forgot to mention one or the other at this point. Action, sports, fun, and exercise everywhere you look. If you're lazy with a cookie in the sun, you immediately feel a little guilty.

After a short stop and interesting studies, our journey will soon continue towards Emilia-Romagna.
