Der Küste entlang tuckern

Diterbitkan: 09.10.2021

After yesterday's sports activity, today was a leisurely tourist program. I chug along with one of the numerous ships shortly after 11 towards Rovinj. The weather is fantastic today, but I'm grateful for a warm sweater on the ship. As usual, wine, schnapps or lemonade is served à discrétion, just right for the pre-lunch aperitif.

In Rovinj there is a lot to see and experience. The beautifully designed website of Rovinj Tourism provides all the information you need. In general, guests are well taken care of here in Istria. The Istria-Bike website not only provides maps and information, but also allows GPS tracks to be downloaded directly, and the corresponding routes are also well marked in the field. Exemplary!

But today I'm taking it easy. I stroll through the picturesque alleyways up to the Church of St. Euphemia, which dominates Rovinj. The 3 euros for the ascent to the bell tower are definitely worth it. The panoramic view is fantastic! It's very windy up there, the tower even wobbles a little, but clearly. After a short visit to the sarcophagus of St. Euphemia, I head towards the harbor. After all, it's noon and I want to be cooked for the second time on holiday. The mussels in white wine sauce and fries taste great, and the meal is rounded off with Palačinke. Slowly, I make my way back to the ship, this time I want to be there in time and secure a place at the railing. There are two nice Swiss couples sitting at the table. During the trip, it turns out that they are not only Swiss, but even from Lucerne. We have a good conversation and the return journey flies by.

I haven't seen enough yet, so I take a little detour up to the parish church of St. Martin in Vrsar. It is said that Giacomo Casanova already enjoyed the view here. It can't be blamed him for briefly forgetting about women with this view...

To round off the day, I enjoy a romantic sunset before heading back to the RV.

Tomorrow we will continue to the Kvarner Bay. I'm looking forward to the adventure of "island hopping."
