Hello hello and welcome back,
As described, my trip to Cadiz, the capital of the Cadiz region - who would have expected it. Even entering the city or the peninsula was really exciting. After a quick search in the car to find suitable parking spaces and the cheapest possible alternative that wouldn't put me in the worst parts of a city, we drove about an hour to Cádiz.
Here I got a parking space right at the harbor (I would like to note that it was the second to last free space) and slowly walked towards the old town when loud music and a real stream of people pulled me towards the harbor.
Once again I was unexpectedly in the right place at the right time because I saw a few more boats and attractions from the Grand Regata. (At least I think so. :D)
Seeing these huge sailboats is really cool and whenever I see sailboats (no matter the size) I automatically think of my time on the sailboat with my cousin and uncle. Thank you both for these wonderful memories we have created together.
After the harbor tour, we went into the city center and, if we were lucky, through the winding streets to some of the sights in the historic center and the old town of Cádiz.
Since a city tour only really counts if you eat ice cream in the city, I kept my eyes peeled for an ice cream parlor during my discovery tour. My criteria for choosing ice cream consists of an ice cream parlor with a maximum of 10 types of ice cream, which do not always correspond to the classic types and there are always mixtures of different flavors. This means that the probability of finding an ice cream parlor that actually makes its own ice cream is very high.
I moved further and further through the old town towards the beach.
The castle can also be seen in the background of the beach. Since this didn't pique my interest, I strolled along the beach towards the cathedral.
I was lucky with the weather and it was a bit cloudy, which made the tour a lot more pleasant.
Cádiz is definitely worth a visit and I think that it could be extended over several days as there is really a lot to discover and I only visited one side of the city.
Since it was still a 2.5 hour drive to my next accommodation, I made my way back to the car and was looking forward to the next 3 days in the Donana National Park.
