Chiang Mai -part2- Time for Songkran! (day 17-22)

After the first relaxing days in Chiang Mai, it is finally time for the Thai New Year Festival, Songkran! Officially, the festival lasts for 3 days, but unofficially it starts one day earlier, so it's 4 days of party, water, and loud music 🤷‍♀️

It's really impossible to stay dry. Anyone who goes outside gets wet, and if you don't want that, you have to stay at home 🤷‍♀️

I didn't even know that it's starting on Friday afternoon, so I made the smart decision to take a Tuktuk back to the hostel from the fitness studio...😅 So, I arrived at the hostel slightly wet, and my lovely hostel mates completed the job 🤦‍♀️🔫🤣

That was my personal kick-off to 4 days of celebration, drinking, and water fights. As they say, revenge is sweet, so my tormentors from the hostel were later sunk in the paddling pool 😈🌊

From then on, one water fight followed another. Pickup trucks loaded with ice buckets kept passing by our hostel, and when we felt that there was too little happening, we went to the main road 20 meters away to fight our way through. Young or old, really everyone was there.

In the evening, we headed to Zoe in Yellow, a huge party area in the old town. Hard beats, even more alcohol, and looooots of new acquaintances 🥰

Oh, almost forgot. The evening before was my arrival day, and we went to a karaoke bar ---> Fat Elvis

But back to Friday 😉 At midnight, it was time to say: Sah wa dee pee mai! - Happy New Year 😁

Unfortunately, you can't upload videos here because the atmosphere was indescribable and couldn't be captured in a picture. 😉 I even think it was the best party of my life! But it's probably better that this evening remained unphotographed 😅

After a short night, the party continued directly on Saturday. My clothes from the previous day weren't even dry yet, but oh well 🤷‍♀️

In the evening, we went first to the karaoke bar and then to Zoe in Yellow 😏🤟🏽

Sunday went similarly, except that you could slowly see that people looked a bit exhausted 😂

On Monday, only the party elite was on the streets, no one wanted to get wet anymore 🔫❌🔫❌🔫❌🔫❌🔫❌🔫❌🔫

In the evening, I went for pizza with Niman 😍

Really delicious, better than some pizzerias back home!

Completely exhausted, I went to bed at 1 am on Monday because the next day my motorcycle tour was starting.. 🚀😁
