Ausgepennt...

Today, I slept in until 12 o'clock, probably still a bit jet-lagged. Despite the air conditioning, it was overall a good sleep!👍

When I finally got my act together, there was a heavy rain shower again😬

But I still went out in the rain, grabbed breakfast, and then there was even more rain...

My Cambodian waiter tried to explain to me in terrible English how and where I can best get to the Wat Pho Temple (by boat), and I thanked him in terrible English.

Following his instructions and arriving at the water, there was some tourist rip-off again, as the ride with the long-tailed boat was supposed to cost 30€... after some negotiation, we settled on 10€, but I decided to keep going.

Just 10 meters away, I then took a ferry for about 15 cents 😂

Wat Pho with the lying golden Buddha is located right next to the Grand Palace (both standard attractions in Bangkok), but currently, the Grand Palace is closed to visitors due to mourning for the deceased king.

The Thais are lined up in their finest attire (the elderly in black, the kids in white), it's really impressive😳

Wat Pho next door was really cool, but taking off shoes was mandatory in the temple! Despite the flashlight storm from the tourists, the monks remained deeply relaxed during their prayers!

Now I'm moving on, and I got stuck with cake and Wi-Fi, but actually, I'm looking for some "real" food!

The tuk-tuk drivers always go crazy when they see a tourist, but so far I have avoided them. Now I'll try to order a scooter through "Uber," as it seems to be rush hour for cars and there's a lot of traffic and stop-and-go😬

Update:

Unfortunately, it didn't work out with a scooter, apparently the scooter riders didn't feel like doing the relatively long distance... they rejected me several times in the app...

But I still managed to get a taxi to the MBK Shopping Mall, it cost around 2€ for 5 km. The mall had everything you need on 6 floors, including my iPhone charger :) Definitely bigger than the KaDeWe department store, and next to it is the even bigger Siam Mall... but I skipped that one...

On foot, I actually wanted to go to Bangkok's Chinatown and eat Chinese food there, but it seems like I got lost🤔

Anyway, I ended up eating... it had a kind of backyard atmosphere that the 'restaurant' knew how to create, but at least I chose the most visited 'restaurant' on the side street! It tasted good (noodle soup with duck - or at least that's what I think), and I haven't been hit by Montezuma's Revenge so far! Of course, nobody there spoke English, but when I asked if the food was 'Chinese' or 'Thai,' they said 'Thai.' I have no idea what anyone understood there!?

I took a taxi back and went back to Khao San Road for a short time, which is starting to annoy me a bit... I tried coconut ice cream, but you can skip it. It wasn't really that great!

I'll spend one more night in Bangkok tomorrow, and then that should be enough for now...
