The highest seat of government in the world

The bus ride from Copacabana to La Paz is quite nice despite the old crate without air conditioning. We sit right up front with open windows and admire the lake from various perspectives. We have to cross a part of the lake by boat. We get into a small boat, our bus gets onto a...somewhat makeshift-looking raft and follows us. After a winding journey through beautiful landscapes, we finally arrive in an increasingly densely populated area. Our bus moves downhill as we catch sight of a huge valley full of countless houses. Behind it towers a gigantic glacier. Bienvenidos to La Paz - the highest seat of government in the world.

The first impression of this huge metropolis is dominated by narrow streets, colorful market stalls, noise, black exhaust fumes on crowded streets, and bustling activity. However, we are lucky with our apartment: at the foot of a viewpoint is our domicile, so the view is accordingly. Through the large windows, we admire the soon-to-be evening city with all its lights and the snow-covered mountain behind it, a calm giant in the twilight.

Here we cook together and sing loudly to the hits of the 90s!

In La Paz, we explore the witch market and the city center, unfortunately also the Clinica Alemana, because Kathrin is still not feeling well. Equipped with new medication, she fortunately still accompanies us for a while.

We even discover a Christmas market - very strange in sunshine and high temperatures. Here traditionally dressed women sell brightly flashing Christmas kitsch.
