We arrive at Mulranny in the late afternoon at a small harbor in pouring rain. The place is quiet, in the evenings young people usually come by to smoke 😉

In Mulranny, it's raining
The dog still needs to go out
Many cairns
In the evening we had a delicious barbecue.
The next morning it's sunny again ☀️

On the further journey we passed a spot where a shipwreck occurred on January 10, 1940. The Aghia Eirini ran aground here with a coal cargo on the coast.

Fortunately, the 29 crew members were rescued by brave locals.

Here is the spot today

You can still see the stuff in the end

And this is what it looked like in December 1940

A steam-powered crane was installed to salvage the cargo and then dismantle and dispose of the wreck, the remains of the crane can still be seen today

The dismantling of the wreck

On the way, we often see fields where peat is still being cut, unfortunately, we never see people working. That would have really interested us

All guarded by the ubiquitous sheep
