I have arrived

Now I have been in beautiful Canada for 6 weeks. I have settled into the school routine.

Outside of school, I have also signed up for the gym, which is a fitness studio in Germany. However, the gym also has a swimming pool and a gymnasium. With my host brother and a few other friends, we go there 3 times a week to exercise after homework and studying.

As you know, I am still on the soccer team, which I still enjoy a lot. Unfortunately, I injured my knee once, but I didn't let the ball from the opposing team score. My knee was very red and swollen. I was dismissed from school early on that Thursday and my host mother took care of me. Oh, I finally received my goalkeeper gloves after a long wait, and luckily they fit.

On the first weekend in March, we went to my host mother's cottage in Muskoka (north of Orillia, which is the nearest town to the cottage) to bring some things for the summer. The cottage is in Muskoka on Lake Couchiching. My host mother said that the beach has fine sand, without rocks or stones. The water is supposed to be ideal for water skiing. In Owen Sound, all the snow has melted, but not in Muskoka. We will spend weekends there in May and June.

Last weekend was very exciting for me. On Friday, I went out for sushi with friends and went to a birthday party. On Saturday, I went to a hockey game of the Owen Sound Attacks. The Owen Sound Attack is a farm team of the NHL from Owen Sound. They have been playing in the Ontario Hockey League since 2000. They won the game 5-0 against a team from the USA.

Last Sunday, the day started very early. We left for a day trip to Toronto at 5:30 am. The journey took about 4 hours. In Toronto, we went to the Eaton Centre first to go shopping. I only bought a few shoes. Then we went to a lacrosse game, Toronto vs. New England. Unfortunately, Toronto lost 7-8.

Lacrosse is a team sport played with a lacrosse stick and a hard rubber ball, so it is classified as a ball sport. The game is played on a field that is 45 meters wide and 102 meters long. The goal is 1.83 meters x 1.83 meters and is located 14 meters in front of the playing field, similar to ice hockey.

Next week, which is the 7th week in Canada, I don't have a school routine, but a whole week of vacation. My host mother has taken the week off to do activities with us. We will visit some attractions in the surrounding area and go skiing with 2 friends and my host brother. I will tell you more about my vacation in 2 weeks. Goodbye!
