Last year we wanted to travel through Africa during our world tour. Unfortunately, that didn't work out. But we're making up for it now. We have to check if the impressions from a TV rose cavalier show are really real 😁. But first, we need to arrive there...
On Wednesday (30.10.), we took the train from the main station in Magdeburg at 7 a.m. Our destination was the airport in Hamburg. Of course, due to signal works, we arrived later in Hanover and therefore missed our connecting train to Hamburg - how else could it be 😅. When we finally arrived in Hamburg on a train, a staff member of the railway expressed over the loudspeaker, somewhat surprised, that he himself was astonished that this train had arrived on time... But we had planned for the delays in total. Unfortunately, that’s something one has to do nowadays.
At the airport, we met Dieter Bohlen. I was genuinely pleased 😃. He looked quite aged and also rather thin. But his voice was just right. The flight from Hamburg to Dubai (not a direct flight) took exactly 6 hours on a Boeing 777 with Emirates, and it went absolutely flawlessly.
When we arrived at the airport in Dubai, images and memories from last year's trip came flooding back... Almost to the day, we landed in Dubai last year (01.11.2023). We had a layover of 3.5 hours there. We managed to doze off on the lounge chairs. But don't worry: No one dares to swipe anything 😅.
From Dubai, we again flew about 9.5 hours to Cape Town on a Boeing 777 from Emirates. This flight was exemplary as well.
About Emirates:
Regarding the equipment, one could say that the seats probably have their own pattern, and the “ceiling” of the airplane is supposedly adorned with stars. That's pretty cool 👍🏻. Regarding meals, we received proper “menu cards”. Quite special. The food was partly very good and partly okay. The flight attendants were friendly and always attentive. However, I found the staff at Air New Zealand and Singapore Airlines to be a bit more authentic in terms of friendliness. They really surrounded the passengers with drinks and seemed at least genuinely concerned that everyone was comfortable. On the first flight to Dubai, they collected the blankets and headphones over 30 minutes before the end. I didn't like that at all because I couldn't finish my movie ... By the way, there were no toothbrushes either. On flight number two, nothing was collected prematurely, and each passenger received a cosmetic bag. That was again very commendable. Overall, we have so far been very satisfied with Emirates. The planes have also arrived at the destinations with all doors, phones, and passengers intact 😆.
Within about 30 minutes, we were through customs. Afterwards, we were immediately met by a driver who took us to the hotel. During the drive, one could catch a first glimpse of the living conditions of some residents on the left and right side of the road. Everything appeared very small and cramped. Some streets leading to these neighborhoods were blocked off by high fences...
It was now around 1:30 p.m. in Cape Town (31.10.) when we went to the room. In total, we had been traveling for 31 hours. Man, were we relieved to finally be here 😅. The hotel room is quite nice.
We wandered a bit around the hotel, ate, and went to our room early.
We are curious about what the coming days will bring 😊
Good night 😴
