Menhirs on the Cham des Bondons

Објавено: 17.06.2024

"On the Cham des Bondons plateau, which covers only about 10 km², near Les Bondons in the Lozère department, there is a collection of 154 menhirs. After Carnac, this is the second largest concentration of menhirs in France. Several stones have been recognized as monuments historiques since 1941." At least, that's what it says on Wikipedia. Anyone who has ever seen the menhirs in Carnac will almost certainly interpret this statement a little differently.

Nevertheless, the well-signposted, two-hour walk is worth it. If only for the sensational view of the surrounding hills and down into the valley. And ultimately, the menhirs standing alone in the area are actually quite photogenic.
