Feurige Felsen

From today we are on a road trip again! Just this morning we picked up our Nissan Versa. And off we went for a fun drive to the Hoover Dam. Paid parking spaces are closer here than the ones that are free. We have been walking so much lately that we wanted to save money and stay true to walking.

A short walk later, we were standing on the dizzying dam. Unfortunately, you can't see far because the valley takes a bend. But definitely impressive.

And we continued. About 4 hours later, we arrived at the Grand Canyon National Park. Admission for 1-7 days is $35 per vehicle. We received some brochures that explained the nature and made jokes that we might see a turkey, bear, or elk. Shortly after, traffic jammed in front of us. When we realized why, we burst into laughter. 3 deer were calmly grazing at the roadside. We parked the car and after just a few steps, an incredible sight unfolded before us. The beautiful vastness of the Grand Canyon. A breathtaking view. With perfect timing, we reached this natural wonder at sunset. The rocks seemed to be on fire, shining so red.

Contrary to our expectations, it was bitterly cold and windy! How some tourists managed in T-shirt and shorts is still a mystery to us. As half icicles, we then returned to the car and warmed up with delicious food in the restaurant at our hotel (Grand Canyon Inn).
