17. Thassos (Greece)

Whakaputaina: 19.08.2021

12.08.21-17.08.21

After the city trip in Thessaloniki, we felt the need for beach, sea and vacation vibes again. So we drive to Keramoti and take the ferry to the island of Thassos.

Long but beautiful drive to Keramoti
Keramoti

We stay in Chrissi Ammoudia and have a great view of the bay.
Premiere, Ronny goes to the supermarket

The beach is quite crowded, but we still find a spot without umbrellas and sunbeds and enjoy doing nothing.

Golden Beach

Since the road to Marble Beach, known for its marble beach, is not really passable, we walk the 2 hours through the calm and beautiful nature.

Arriving at Marble Beach, everything is white and bright..

What is the man doing there?

Since the 5th century BC, marble has been mined on Thassos and used for temples and statues. The marble beach is directly adjacent to the quarry and consists of pure white marble pebbles.

Marble Beach

We also explore the beautiful island by car and are amazed - everything is green, relaxed and beautiful!

We drive to Giola Lagoon, a natural pool in the rocks

and we also find a nearly empty beach to relax.

In the end, we have a huge fish platter

and then it's time to say goodbye. Our journey continues through Turkey to the next continent. Thank you Greece and we will definitely come back soon!

Finally:

Conclusion Greece Katha: 'Since we were only in Greece for a short time, I can't say much. As you know Greece, it was super beautiful, very relaxed and easy due to the Euro, the EU network and the easy communication. Since it is quite expensive compared to other places and we have so much planned, it was a short detour, but certainly not the last visit!'

Conclusion Greece Ronny: 'Unfortunately, our trip to Greece was a bit short since we have to continue to reach our destination at the end of August/beginning of September in Georgia. But we had a great time in Greece, with delicious food, beautiful beaches and a lot of relaxation. As I said, unfortunately, it was too short, but we would love to visit again in the future.'
