For our first stop on St. Lucia we chose a very nice Airbnb accommodation. A two story small house in the mountains above Marigot Bay. A very small, very beautiful bay with a few hotels and a few Caribbean restaurants.
We had the apartment on the upper floor with a beautiful view of the bay.
The ride from the airport with the Jimmy 4x4 was surprisingly long. You have to know that the roads on the entire island are quite simple - there are no motorways or anything like that. The roads are sometimes narrow, the landscape is mountainous and wild. The left-hand traffic doesn't make it any easier and it takes 1.5 hours to travel 40 km.
So we only arrived at our destination when it was dark. The path into the mountain is a gravel road through pure wilderness. Fortunately, we were well guided and received a very friendly welcome.
The accommodation is something for nature lovers. You sit on the terrace surrounded by treetops with hummingbirds and other local birds. The background noise is fabulous. There are no dangerous animals or snakes up here. The view is breathtaking.
