Day 7 - Canada pure

Whakaputaina: 31.07.2018

So, 29.07.18

Dear Diary,

Today is the first day in the Canadian wilderness, where bear and beaver say hello to each other. When we get up, breakfast is already ready: bacon, hash browns, scrambled eggs. Perfetto.

Immediately, we plan our day. We want to go to Algonquin National Park and take a hike. Weather is good. The only problem is that we have to go back to the car, a 20-minute walk through the mosquito hell. Because we need the car to get to the park.

Sprayed and dressed in long sleeves, we set off. It works. Hardly any bites. We zoom off and after about 1 hour we arrive at the park center, where we get our hiking map and ticket.

A few minutes later, we start the 2.1km long and 1 hour hike on the Lookout Trail. Interestingly, the interpretation of footwear for hiking varies greatly... a cultural difference?

After 30 minutes, we're already back at the car. That's why we choose another trail - the Continental Ridge. With 6 hours and 10 kilometers, it's a bit more challenging. But we can do it. And off we go on a great hike. In between, we get incredible views. But it's also exhausting.

At half past three, we're soaking wet back at the car. Quickly change and then off home. We're looking forward to what awaits us - 2 kilometers of mosquitoes after 4 hours of hiking. Let's go.

Back at the lodge, we decide to take a short canoe trip on Little Mink Lake in front of our door. Afterwards, we even splash around in it :) After dinner, Jack takes us on the second canoe tour with the task of spotting beavers. Actually, he already sees from a distance where they are and tells us a lot about the Canadian national animal. Finally, we can get as close as 5 meters to them. What a Canada Day!

See you soon, my diary - bye beaver, bear and everyone else.
