Sunday morning and I was still alive. 😉 The outdoor adventure couldn't kill me. 😂 The night was ok. As expected I couldn't sleep very well, but I was not freezing in the night. It is very funny. Two weeks ago, I said, that I'm not an outdoor-type. Then I landed here. 😅 I can't say, that this adventure changed my mind. I'm still not the outdoor type. 😄
After toast and tea I left my outdoor accomodation to move to a B&B in the town centre, where I had my own room again. 😊😊😊
I left my backpack at the B&B and visited the 'Lost Gardens of Heligan'. The weather was bad. It was very wet and a little bit cold. A grey wet Sunday. It felt like autumn. 😕 At home you would stay in bed all the time on such a day.
The gardens were nice, but not so great like I expected. It was like a long walk through the forest were you can see some more or less nice attractions. Maybe it would have been better with a little bit sun and/or with a group of people. You could take some funny pic's there. I learned why this garden is called 'lost gardens': You could easily get lost there. 😁 There is no round way and many ways and directions. I was happy that I found the exit again. 😀 I'm not sure, if I saw all the nice attractions, but I spent enough time at the gardens. Beforehands I thought I would like Heligan more than Eden. Now I say Eden is much better then Heligan.
After my tour I had lunch at the Heligan's restaurant and returned to the bus stop. Unfortunately there were one hour till my bus was coming, because it was Sunday. 😕 I met a guy at the bus stop, who comes from St. Austell and is studying in Den Haag. He is working at Heligans Gardens during his holidays. His parents picked him up and they also took me back to the town. That was so great. They were very lovely. 😊
Back in town I went to Aldi for buying something to drink and eat and then back to the B&B. I stayed there for the rest of the day. I was so tired, didn't want to walk anymore and the weather was so bad. Sometimes, but seldom my energy is 'off'. And this was such a day. So I had a lazy Sunday afternoon and I liked it. I don't think that I missed so much. I guess St. Austell is not the most beautiful town in England. 😉
Tomorrow I will leave St Austell for my last station in Cornwall: Newquay
Top 3 of St. Austell
1. Eden Project
2. Dinner at the Eden's Yard Backpacker hostel
3. the family who took me back from Heligan to the town centre
Flop 3
1. St. Austell's nightlife
2. the outside accommodation at the hostel
3. the wet and cold weather
P.S.: In the meantime I also added the Tops and Flops of Penzance to day 7. The first time I forgot this. 😉
