We have arrived in Lima!
After a tiring flight and a taxi ride through the tough neighborhoods of Lima, we have arrived at The House Projekt hostel. On our first day here, our roommate Christian (from Chile, so he doesn't speak a word of English) took us by the hand and led us to the market for lunch. Here you can get amazing food for around 3-4 euros. Huge portions of meat and fish. The people are super nice but they only speak Spanish! On the first night, we met Alex and Rambo from Mexico at the hostel, who were like writers and publishers straight out of Californication. We went out with these two totally crazy, intimidating-looking but very lovable guys to party in Barranco. But before that, we emptied a bottle of Mexican tequila and ate the worm in it;)
On Monday, Christian took us on a trip to Downtown Lima. The smog almost knocked out Marius. Christian showed us his passion for collecting antique coins and banknotes and dragged us through backyards and garage shops. In the evening, we enjoyed good wine, bread, and Peruvian cheese with our new friends at the hostel. Afterwards, we went on a night tour of Miraflores and had some beers with Jaroslaw, the crazy Russian working at the hostel.
The jet lag is slowly fading away and we are getting used to a different, relaxed lifestyle.
Tonight, we are taking a bus to Huarasz in the Andes.
Greetings from the other end of the world!
Max and Marius
