After a pleasant night in Johannesburg we will be picked up and the drive to Kruger National Park can begin. We arrive in the early afternoon and quickly throw our belongings into the comfortable tent. Then we continue in the small truck for a game drive through the grounds. We see buffalo, giraffes, kudus, a sable antelope, zebras, elephants and even hyenas who are eating and a hyena mother with five cubs.
After the exciting drive, we have a delicious dinner and an entertaining evening in a small group with a few glasses of wine.
The next morning we start a day tour that takes us to the most beautiful places in the area via the Panorama Route.
We visit a waterfall as well as small stands with African souvenirs. However, the highlight is the Blyde River Canyon. We take a walk around the impressive gorge, take photos and enjoy the view. On the way back, we stop at a pancake house for a snack.
We spend the rest of the afternoon in the camp playing cards with two German girls. Today we go to bed a little earlier because tomorrow's game drive starts very early.
We get up and try our luck to spot a leopard. Unfortunately, it doesn't show up, but we can observe some other animals.
In the afternoon, we drive through the park again, but unfortunately, there is no sign of the leopard this time either. Instead, we see a group of vultures feasting on the remains of a dead buffalo. We also see wildebeests, another kind of rhinoceros, and young hyenas that are only a few days old. Before we return, we come across a swarm of flying termites in the evening air.
After dinner, everyone from the camp sits around our campfire and enjoys the mild night.
The next day, we get up early again for another game drive. It's once again a very nice tour where we spot some animals, but it seems like we'll have to come back again to try our luck with a leopard.
After breakfast, we leave our tent and drive back to Johannesburg.
