Whakaputaina: 10.10.2016
This morning we had to wake up at 6 o'clock - to catch the bus at 7:30 am at the Auckland harbor.
On the way, Cynthia bought a donut for a whopping $2.60.
After we finally got on the bus, we had to wait for half an hour - great, the bus broke down before we even drove a meter.
So everyone got off again and got on the next bus. Unfortunately, it was super cold in there. So now we had 4 hours of freezing and tired bus ride ahead of us.
In Whangarei, Lena and Sabrina (whom we met in our hostel in Auckland the week before) joined us. They told us about glow worms in a cave and other experiences.
When we arrived in Paihia, we made our way to the hostel with all our backpacks.
After we had done some shopping for the next 3 days and cooked, the four of us set off on foot to a hiking trail.
After 1.5 hours of hiking through an extremely beautiful forest, we arrived at the Haruru Falls.
On the way back, Cynthia and I dared to hitchhike for the first time - woohoo!
In the hostel, we had dinner together.
They even have a big, old, cuddly dog here, and the hostel (the pickled Parrot) is pretty cool - much more to my taste than the too big Attic Backpackers in Auckland. It's more like a big shared apartment here, everyone greets each other and the kitchen + common areas are much cozier.
