Hurray, hurray! After a long flight and a approximately 2-hour drive from Phuket to Krabi, we have finally arrived at our first destination. The journey here was already an experience. Along the way, we could admire the beautiful landscape - if we weren't dozing off.
After thanking our friendly driver, we were able to check into our room at Ao Nang Green View Village Resort. The room is quite small and unfortunately has little storage space, but other than that, everything is fine. The small resort, which includes several bungalows in addition to the rooms, is very nicely laid out. There are two pools, one of which is more modern in the newer part of the hotel, and the other is truly beautiful with a view of the limestone cliffs that surround us. So it seems to be a good choice!
A little bit of settling in, refreshing ourselves, and off we go. Since we arrived quite early, we still have the whole day ahead of us, which we somehow have to get through. The fatigue is not exactly limited and we are still overwhelmed by the first impressions and the urge to explore the area. Let's see how long we last. With the shuttle that runs hourly from the hotel to the beach, we make our way to Ao Nang Beach. There, we first take a walk along the promenade, explore the excursion offers with the longtail boats, and observe the hustle and bustle. It's already busy here! The main purpose of Ao Nang Beach is to serve as a docking point for all the water taxis that take tourists to various beaches. So if you plan to spend a day at the beach, it's better to choose another beach.
Now it's time for us to find something to eat. We start walking back to the hotel, which is about a kilometer away from the beach. Along the way, we settle down at one of the numerous restaurants. It's not that easy to find a good restaurant with so many options. In the coming days, we will seek advice from the internet, but for now, we decide on the next best thing we find. My first meal in Thailand consists of fried rice. I'm not capable of eating more at the moment because the drastic change in weather and the long journey have taken a toll on me. My strength is waning, so we head back to our accommodation after the meal. I take a short rest and feel a little better afterwards, allowing us to relax and cool down by the pool for a while. We spend the rest of the day trying to stay awake until it's late enough to finally go to bed. Eventually, we give up the fight around 7:30 PM and fall into bed completely exhausted.
