After a very restful night at the Grand Hotel, we started a shopping tour in L'isle sur Sorgue. There are many antique and handicraft shops here.
We continued our journey to Carpentras. The beautiful city center is hidden between residential blocks and parking lots. It took us a while to get acquainted. Despite several bistros and restaurants, we decided to have lunch at an authentic Breton creperie. And that was the right choice! In addition to a Galettes complete, there was a Galettes with chicken and garlic sauce and one with duck breast, ham, foie gras, and andouillette.
We continued towards nature. Ardeche, here we come. We drove along the D290, the tourist route, for 30 kilometers along the beautiful Gorges d'Ardeche and numerous viewpoints. The views were amazing.
The last stop on the tourist route was the Pont d'Arc, a natural bridge over the Ardeche. Here, we took a short walk and enjoyed the surroundings. Crystal clear water, amazing rocks, tree-covered caves, and this incredible natural monument.
From here, we looked for a hotel and found the L'hotel du Couvent. A great hotel in an old convent, the building has been modernized but still retains its old charm. However, they were not prepared for guests. We had booked shortly before arrival and had to wait at the reception for a while until the very friendly hosts found a clean room. We were supposed to get a suite. When we arrived, it turned out that the room had not been cleaned yet, so we walked back to the reception together. After a room was found for us, we went to Barjac for dinner. The hotel owners recommended the 'C2 Saveurs' to us, and it was a very very good choice. We started with a Chardonnay sparkling wine as an aperitif, finally had frog legs as a starter, followed by lamb rack and calf's head, accompanied by a dry white wine from the region. For dessert, we had tiramisu and chocolate parfait with pistachio mousse, and now we are falling asleep in our bed, feeling very full.
