Hello dear ones,
we haven't heard from us for a long time, but as most of you know, we were in Sweden for 2 months or on home leave.
Now we are back in Thailand and have plenty of time and leisure to take care of the blog and provide you with the latest updates... :)
We still owe you a report of our last weeks spent in northern Vietnam, more precisely with two bikes on the famous Ha Giang Loop.
We don't want to blabber too much, we prefer to let the pictures speak for themselves... We can tell you that it's green... ;)
It only remains to say that this conclusion of the first half of our time out was the icing on the cake. We have never experienced such a beautiful landscape before, and we are probably closer to any other culture. Because the locals offer their homes as homestays along the route and you have dinner with the family every evening, you can experience the traditional life of the local mountain people (mostly the Black Hmong and the Dao) up close. Even when you ride your scooter along the winding mountain roads and admire the lush green mountains and rice terraces, you can see the hardworking farmers working in their fields and the children playing on the village streets. They live their lives and we somehow scramble in between.
The routes were not always easy to ride, but that is our own fault because on the way to the Loop we once again took a route off the recommended path, which unfortunately sent us 20 km through the deepest jungle, 'raging' rivers, waist-high mud and paths covered with rocks... (Sergi said "There is a shortcut there..."). Apart from a burn on Mine's leg and the mental damage, we made it through it all... Sergey even in flip flops ;).
On our way to Sweden, we visited our dear Thai family in Bangkok again and once again spent a few great days... Just like the journey began almost a year ago.
As I said, it was a wonderful conclusion and we can recommend everyone to visit this beautiful spot on earth when you are in Vietnam! But see for yourself...
Now we are enjoying our heart-filled island Koh Lanta for 2 full months and sending you a big hug!
Peace & Love
