We spent 10 days in a Shipibo village in the middle of the rainforest. There, we lived with the locals and they showed us their traditions and customs. Since the Shipibos are closely connected to nature, they taught us a lot about the plants in the forest and their healing powers. Besides various ceremonies, extensive walks in the forest were also part of the daily routine. It was an unforgettable experience and a dream come true for us.
We lived there completely isolated from civilization. That's why the contrast with the hectic jungle city of Iquitos was even more intense for us.
After a few days, we took a boat from Iquitos to Yurimaguas and from there to Tarapoto. This time, we followed the Rio Marañion, which is formed by the confluence of this river with the Rio Ucayali shortly before Iquitos, the Amazon.
In Tarapoto, we stayed with a friend just outside the city, surrounded by greenery and right next to a river where we could cool off.
