After a few days, a routine actually sets in. You gradually learn the tobacco brands. Generally, cigarettes, toast bread, and soft drinks, especially cola, are the best-selling items. Additionally, it can be noticed that there is more downtime. Everything is restocked, but no customers are there. Nothing to do, simply.
On Tuesday, goods arrive that need to be stocked. So, it was a little less boring for a certain time of the day.
Once a week, everyone has a split shift. This means working from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm and 4:45 pm to 9:15 pm. You almost fall asleep at lunchtime. This is the most unfavorable day.
On the day off, we went to the nearest city. The car is quite old but drives quite well. Shifting gears with the left hand now feels normal. And the brakes actually work. What more could you want from a car?
The next day, my French colleague mentioned that overtime may not be paid correctly here. Hmm, I wanted to ask for a wage table anyway, as it was stated in the contract that I didn't completely get back.
On weekends, we only work as a team of two. This time with the Frenchman Julien, with whom I get along best. We checked the incorrect payment of overtime in the past, and it was indeed the case. Somehow, we had to make use of the time in the store, as hardly any customers came on that day. It was deadly boring.
On Sunday, Julien and I had the day off. We drove to the city to the resort, where you can use the pool after purchasing a drink. He knew a girl who worked there. We hung out with her. In the evening, we watched the sunset at a bay and then treated ourselves to an all-you-can-eat buffet for €25 at the resort. I was so happy in that moment!
