Finally South Island!! Since arriving in New Zealand, everyone has told me that the South Island is even more beautiful than the North Island. But the North Island has completely blown me away and I can't imagine it being even more beautiful. Nevertheless, I was really happy to finally get on the ferry and enjoy the 3 1/2 hours on the water through the fjords to Picton. That's exactly what I did too. I couldn't help but be amazed by the breathtaking nature. Departed from Wellington in bad and cold weather and arrived in Picton in sunshine and beautiful weather. Couldn't have been a better sign that this is exactly the right thing! The rest of the day was just enjoyed on the beach. The next day I went a full 24km further into the fjords. One bay is more beautiful and remote than the other. Since I haven't really gotten into the Christmas spirit yet (like in the summer when it's 30 degrees) but there's never been a St. Nicholas Day without a Chocolate Santa Claus, I enjoyed it on the beach and hoped that the seagulls didn't snatch it out of my hand. The evening was spent relaxing in the hostel. The next day was actually supposed to be a planning day, but the beach was too tempting and so it became another beach day. In the evening, all sorts of different travel stories were exchanged between us solo travel girls, Discofox danced and just enjoyed the summer evening until late into the night. By the way, the hostel was called โThe Villaโ and therefore my memories of โThe Villaโ in Lungau are one of the best, so this time could only be good. She definitely was! The perfect start on the South Island of New Zealand and I'm excited to see what else it has to offer! ๐ ๐ผ๐๐ผ
