Peru - Day 17 - Excursion to Lake Titicaca and Departure to Lima

Despite the gloomy mood, today we went on the Day Tour Floating Island on Lake Titicaca. First, we took the slowest boat ever to the Floating Islands (floating islands made of reeds). People still live on these islands to avoid taxes. We were explained how the islands are built and all the items they need are exchanged on the mainland (e.g. for fish). Their reed boats are mostly made of empty plastic bottles, which are thus recycled in a meaningful way.
Then we continued to the island Taqile. Here we had fresh fish for lunch. A leisurely walk around the island was the whole program here. The excursion turned out to be a 'senior outing' and is not recommended. A 2-hour visit to the Floating Islands is sufficient, as you actually spend 90% of the time sitting on the slow boat.
In the evening, we started the return journey to Lima - first stage 21.5h bus ride to Huacachina.
