Today we visited Bodie Town, an abandoned gold mining settlement. Miraculously, the town looks as if the residents just left, even though no one has lived there since the 1930s. Due to the low humidity, the town is still relatively well preserved. It's a truly eerie place. When you look inside the different houses, you can still see the furnishings of the former residents. We felt like we were transported into a Wild Western film :-)
Afterwards, we went to Mono Lake. This lake is particularly salty and alkaline, which makes the shore areas completely white. This unique ecosystem provides a home for many bird species to nest. The lake is not very inviting for swimming :D but it is especially beautiful to see!
