Located in the Sexten Sundial in the Dolomites, the unique Fischleintal in Hochpustertal (Val Fiscalina in Italian) stretches out. From Sexten, this beautiful valley is accessible, which forms the entrance to the Nature Park Tre Cime. The incredible rocks of Einserkofel, Zöölferkofel, and Rotwandspitze surround the Fischleintal. The Fischleintal invites you to a relaxing afternoon trip in Hochpustertal and is also the starting point for many famous mountain tours in the Sexten Dolomites.

Where exactly is the Fischleintal located

The Fischleintal, one of the most beautiful areas in Hochpustertal, is a side valley in Sexten. If you drive from the Puster Valley Road to Innichen, you will reach the road that leads to the Sextner Valley from there. Once you arrive in Sexten, continue to Moos, a fraction of Sexten. From here, you can go south to the base station of the Rotwandwiesen ski area, where it continues just a few kilometers to the parking lot of Fischleintal, located in front of the Dolomitenhof Hotel. Here you can park your car for just a few euros and start your walk or hike into the breathtaking valley in Hochpustertal.

In winter, the Fischleintal is also an insider tip for a trip in Hochpustertal. The Talschlusshütte, which can be reached after about a 20-minute hike (from the parking lot), remains open at this time of year. If hiking becomes too boring, you can also walk to Fischleintal with cross-country skis.

Even from Innichen in Hochpustertal, a cross-country ski trail leads to the Talschlusshütte. If hiking and cross-country skiing become too strenuous or boring for you, or if you want a unique experience, then a horse-drawn carriage ride to the Talschlusshütte is just right. This is the coziest way to enjoy the nature and tranquility of the famous Fischleintal in Hochpustertal. You will certainly not forget the view of the massive mountains of the Sexten Sundial.

The Fischleintal in Hochpustertal offers the perfect view of the famous Sexten Sundial. In earlier times, when there were no clocks, these mountains were the only way to determine the time. Today, the sundial is an impressive natural wonder in the Dolomites and is even considered the symbol of Sexten. The Sexten Sundial in Fischleintal consists of the peaks of Neunerkofel (2,582 m), Zehnerkofel (Rotwandspitze - 2,965 m), Elferkofel (3,092 m), Zwölferkofel (3,094 m) and Einserkofel (2,689 m). The Einserkofel is by far the most famous peak of these five due to its rockfall on October 12, 2007. Approximately 60,000 cubic meters of rock and debris fell into the depths on this day. Fortunately, no one was injured, as no one was in the immediate vicinity of the mountain. Numerous people who were on the hiking tour to the Dreizinnenhütte were immediately taken care of due to breathing difficulties. After this rockfall, the Fischleintal in Hochpustertal looked similar to a winter landscape due to the limestone dust. Let's hope that in the future, this beautiful area will be spared from similar natural disasters.

My conclusion

You should not miss a trip to the Fischleintal in Hochpustertal if you are on vacation here. I myself love this valley and am always fascinated by the Sexten Sundial. A truly great feeling to be surrounded by the Dolomites from all sides. A tip from me is the 360-degree panorama of Sexten and the Sexten Sundial, which can be found on the following page: http://www.sexten.org/panoramen/sexten-03/panoramabild-sexten-winter.asp. Here you can see the Sexten Sundial in great detail and even zoom into these mountains. Have fun!
