A beautiful, cool morning with sunshine greets us. After a short breakfast, we continue our journey, crossing Belgrade in full morning traffic and later turning towards the Iron Gates, which we reach around midday. I have memories of the Iron Gate from about 45 years ago, when I was on my hitchhiking trip on the other side of the Danube. We continued through the mountains of Stara Planina to the border with Bulgaria, the first somewhat more complex border crossing. Shortly behind the border, with the help of park4night, we find an eco-campsite where we serve home-brewed beer. But we first have to earn this through an adventurous journey over unpaved roads and in the dark. The campsite is run by an American woman. 1701km
