Floating markets, Royal Palace & Night Market

Full program today, we went out at 8 o'clock and headed to the floating markets in Talin Chan, a 15-minute drive from our hotel. It took 15 minutes of discussion with the taxi driver to convince him to turn on the meter, which they usually avoid doing in order to charge triple the price later.

Arrived, it was a total sensory overload and excitement: every stall was sizzling with delicious food that was hard to identify, but definitely tasty once you dared to try it!

In the middle of the market, there was a river where locals sold fruits, meat, and fish from their boats. Definitely worth seeing!

After breakfast and spending some time there, we continued to the Grand Palace, the Royal Palace. Long pants and covered shoulders are mandatory and strictly enforced. The palace itself must be entered barefoot.

It's crazy how much gold, glitter, and bling-bling can be put on buildings. It's hard to know where to look first. But definitely impressive and a must-see when visiting Bangkok.

In the afternoon, we spent time eating and strolling on Khao San Road. We were determined to try something crazy from Thai cuisine and this time we went a little off track - a soup with an indeterminate ingredient, but tasting distinctly of lemongrass, super spicy rice, and chicken in coconut sauce. Well, we will continue to try out the street food stalls! :-D

In the evening, we visited Bangkok's largest night market, Ratchada Rot Fai, and oh boy, what can I say? - it's a completely different world in every aspect! Thousands of stalls lined up, between handbags and shirts, you can find fried grasshoppers, get your nails done, or have your eyelashes extended. A must-see, but I was also glad to have a little bit of "peace" after 3 hours :-D
