After leaving Rostock Ritz, the first stop is in Solitaire. There, they have the most delicious (and still warm) apple pie (we thought it was just a tourist trap, but it's actually true!!!). They also have some beautiful old rusty cars for photography, but other than that, there's nothing else there (in the middle of nowhere). And by the way, it's the first place where we have met so many tourists in Namibia, including some 'Chinese tour buses' 😊.
We drive through amazing landscapes to our desert camp in Sesriem, at the entrance of the Namib Naukluft National Park. It's hot again, 38 degrees. We are warmly welcomed and given a nice 'hut' with our own barbecue area! With our lucky number 13.
FINALLY, we are grilling ourselves! In Swakopmund, we packed our cooler box for three days of grilling: meat, bell peppers, potatoes, onions, corn, butter.
As the sun sets and it barely gets cooler, and the ice cubes keep melting just by watching, the grill is fired up for the first time in Namibia!
And it was verrrrry delicious.
While eating, we enjoy a beautiful plain with a mountain backdrop, as the sun sets and paints beautiful colors. Then, the huge and incredibly beautiful starry sky emerges.
Then we sleep wonderfully in the wonderfully cool room (until the alarm goes off at 6 in the morning).
Maxima had to remove some splinters from her hand, which she got while climbing somewhere.
