Yesterday we were too tired to write, so the report comes today. In the morning we walked through the town.
After buying swimwear (unfortunately I left all our bathing suits in Quito🙄), we went to one of the many swimming pools in Baños. Baños means baths in English and is known for its mineral-rich hot springs. Since the pool with the water slides is closed on Mondays, we went to the thermal bath that the locals visit. We had to rent swim caps. We looked quite silly. 😁
The dwarves of Baños
The water was hot and yellow (from iron or what?). In two small basins, the water was so hot it felt like being cooked. Luckily, there was an ice-cold pool to cool down. It was very fun. Once again, my Spanish skills were put to the test. We received some recommendations on which places in Ecuador we should definitely visit.
After that, we had a delicious meal and in the afternoon, we went on a tour to the mountains to a swing where you can swing out over a gorge. But the swings were secured, otherwise, I wouldn't have allowed it. Strict mom!
There was also a small treehouse and a magnificent view over Baños and the surrounding valleys.
Back again, Milo really wanted to go to the soccer field. There were two boys there, with whom he played until they couldn't see anything anymore. It gets completely dark here by 7:00 PM at the latest.
In the hostel, we ate and talked to an Italian and a French couple who were in Colombia before coming to Ecuador. Must be very nice there. Maybe next time????
