Yesterday I completely forgot to tell you about this English family. When I saw the two little girls, I thought they were probably only doing the last 100 km. I thought to myself, very brave! When the woman told me that they started exactly like in France, my jaw dropped. How is that possible? How do you manage it??
She just said, sometimes better, sometimes worse. The little girls are 4 and 6 years old. The same age as my children.
They started at the end of July, just like me and Fiona, and skipped the hot Meseta. The children usually walk ahead and together they cover about 15 km per day.
I told the girls that they are very special and exceptionally strong at such a young age. The older one said she knows that and smiled at me.
Soon I will be with my own little strong girls. We will make it through the last few days.
Today it was too cold outside to sleep in the hammock. We started walking at 3 am. Fiona must have had some bad water yesterday and she doesn't feel well. She kept stopping, burping, and didn't want to continue. After a few hours, she felt better and now we are 32 km further and staying in a hostel for just 15 euros. We are together, we are warm tonight, we cooked and ate pasta, and we washed our clothes.
For tomorrow on our way, there is only one hostel that I could reserve with a dog. Unfortunately, Fiona will have to sleep in the kennel again tomorrow.
We had to take the second painkiller today.
