Koh Lipe

3 hours of speedboat ride over the waves and rocking back and forth. Water splashed into the boat with every impact. Some tourists felt sick, which is no wonder with such a bumpy experience. We didn't let it bother us and continued watching our series on our phones and iPad. When I saw the powdery white beach and the turquoise color of the sea from afar, the journey was forgotten. We had arrived in paradise. For decades, the remote, small island in southern Thailand was considered a secret tip among backpackers. But that's long gone. Every year, the four and a half square kilometer island attracts thousands of tourists from all over the world. We checked into our bungalow, which was a few meters away from the beach, and enjoyed a delicious fried rice chicken. After a cozy afternoon at the beach, I decided to go for a run. I jogged along the beach during a breathtakingly beautiful sunset and cooled off in the sea at dusk. Our evening was spent at Walking Street, which is the center of the island and runs almost completely through the island. Many restaurants, shops, and bars can be found here. Since everything has to be imported, the prices are correspondingly high. We enjoyed the last hours of the evening with a cocktail and a fire show. The next day, we went on a snorkeling trip to a nearby island. The landscape was an absolute dream and the underwater world was very colorful. The following day, our journey continued to Langkawi, Malaysia. We had to be at the port very early. The word "port" is a bit exaggerated, as there is only a small office and a few ships at the pier. We had to show our passports and hand in our tourist visas from Thailand. After an hour's wait, we were allowed to board the ferry to Malaysia.
